What Did Hornell Rotary
Do This Year?
Helped to raise money for Camp STAR and opened camp on a Sunday night playing kickball and serving refreshments to 65 special
needs campers who all attended for free.
Hosted the 5th Annual Family Fun Day for over 100 youngsters who received prizes, played games, jumped in the bouncy house, got
faces painted and had fun with our Humane Society friends and the Police and Fire departments, all for free.
The Hornell Rotary annual Dictionary Project again donated a dictionary to every third grade student in Hornell, Alfred-Almond, St.
Anne’s and Arkport schools for the 20th year in a row.
Bought pizza for our annual Hornell Concern for Youth Christmas Party attended by over 75 young people.
Helped the Hornell Salvation Army raise money with our Annual Bell Ringing.
Started an Adopt a School Program to provide volunteers to assist at St. Ann’s School.
Collected financial donations to provide Relief Funds for the flood victims of Hurricane Lee in the Binghamton, NY area.
Assisted students in the Hornell High School in forming an Interact Club as a service organization for grades 8 through 12.
Conducted a free prescription drug collection in partnership with the Steuben County Sheriff’s office and the Hornell Police
Department.
Provided a host family for the Milt Matthews Hospitality Program, a program that introduces incoming District Governors from around
the world to the Hornell area.
Donated book shelves to the Concern for Youth and ServU and bought books and magazines to fill them as part of our Annual Literacy
Award.
Worked with the Interact Club to raise money to Adopt a Family at Christmas.
Provided funds for our annual Rotary Scholarship Grant, the George Hammond Award and the BOCES Student Award.
Donated money to the Interact Can-Jam to provide sports equipment to underprivileged children.
Worked with staffers at St. James Hospital to provide our Annual Blood Screening Program, a low-cost blood chemistry analysis open
to the general public.
Volunteered to read to St. Ann’s students in grades K – 3rd in our ongoing School Reading Program.
